It has been a pleasure getting to know every
one of the children as this school year has begun. I
have enjoyed our first week of TK and had a great
time learning about your children. We hope they are
enjoying their new class as the “Big Kids,” as many of
them have said. We look forward to getting to know
each other better as the year continues.
In July, we spend time getting to know each
other. Children explore and enjoy the outside class-
room areas, including manipulatives, blocks, library,
science, math, and dramatic areas. We also introduce
the class schedule, which is displayed at the front of
the class in picture form.
We started with our summer with a theme,
beach, where children used watercolors to paint a
starfish and shells. Children learned about ocean ani-
mals through books and educational videos. We have
been working on some fun art projects and building
our classroom ocean. Also, during table work, children
practice tracing their names, the shape of the week,
and pre-writing lines. In addition, in the second group,
children dance and move using their creative move-
ments during music and movement, which they enjoy.
We have also been doing an emotion activity to ex-
plore how children feel and why. Children will be col-
oring their job- hands, which they will use for daily
jobs.
In August, we will be introducing our Zoo
Phonics alphabet and numbers. On Tuesdays and
Wednesdays, we will introduce our “Share” time. Chil-
dren can bring items such as pictures, drawings from
the internet, or magazine clippings corresponding to
the letter of the week. For example, A is for apple,
and bring a picture of an apple. We will be laminating
their paper and putting them together in an ABC
binder.
It was my pleasure to meet the families at
Orientation Night. I look forward to getting to know
you and your child and being a part of their growth
and development. Ms. Swati

What a wonderful summer we've had in the
Preschool class! The children have been learning a new
routine and have been very successful. They have
been very excited about sitting down and finding
their name on a colored star during group time. Dur-
ing group time, the children have already been learn-
ing about shapes, colors, and numbers. Thank you to
all the families for being supportive and flexible in
July as we all adjust to a new routine and new friends!
They have shown great excitement being in the “big
kid” classroom.
Please remember to bring in your family
boards if you haven't, so we can display them around
the classroom for your child to see. The children de-
light in showing pictures of their loved ones to each
other and comparing how we are alike and different.
We appreciate the time each family takes to make
these boards for their children and the classroom.
Last month, we focused on becoming comfortable in
our classroom and with our teachers. We have learned
all about circles, and now we notice them everywhere!
This month, we will focus on ourselves and our fami-
lies. We will draw pictures of our families and make
adorable self-portraits as we continue to bridge the
gap between home and school.
We will begin collecting data for your child's
upcoming fall conference in September. Everyone has
developed a great routine for dropping off their chil-
dren in the morning as well as during pickup. Please
ensure that you check your child's folder for artwork
and notices. Additionally, please check their cubby
for any soiled clothing that may need to be taken
home. Each child will need two extra pairs of clothes
and an extra pair of to keep at school in case
of accidents. It is also helpful to dress your child in
layers for their school day. The weather can fluctu-
ate from very cold in the morning to hot in the after-
noon.
Thank you to the families who have helped
with laundry and donated items to the school; it is
greatly appreciated. We look forward to another ex-
citing month with you and your children!
Thank you to everyone for allowing me to teach and
grow with your child!
Love, Liz

We had such a nice month with our new tod-
dler class. The children have all been quick to learn
the school routines and to engage in interactions with
others in our group. Though sharing is not an expecta-
tion we have for them at this age and stage of devel-
opment, they have demonstrated the positive feelings
associated with offering play materials to others and
including them in their play activities. They are all
expressing joy in their play and pride in the skills
they are developing here at school.
Alicia and I were so thankful to have the op-
portunity to share more about our daily routines with
those of you who attended our “Parent (Family) Ori-
entation” night. We also enjoyed discussing the spe-
cial characteristics we’ve already been blessed to get
to know each of your children. Thank you to those of
you who were able to join us for the evening. Thanks,
also, to Mia’s grandma, J. Marie, for bringing special
treats to share with us during the meeting.
The children really enjoyed many of the mate-
rials and activities offered to them in July, so we will
continue to offer waterplay experiences, wild animal
explorations, favorite stories, and music and move-
ment activities again this month. We will continue to
observe and pay attention to the interests of the
children, which will help us develop our curriculum and
lesson plans in the months ahead. They have demon-
strated interest and curiosity in getting to know each
other, so we will focus on encouraging and supporting
this as well.
Once again, please feel free to ask us any
questions you may have about our program or your
child’s experience here at school. It is such a privi-
lege to get to know you and your children. Thank you
for entrusting us with their care and allowing us to
partner with you in supporting their growth and de-
velopment. Many blessings! Cindy Bo
